Supermarkets
Shopping for groceries forms a substantial proportion of personal consumer expenditure, which means you can benefit enormously from accepting Visa cards in your supermarket.
Many supermarkets are extending their range beyond groceries and into homeware and electrical goods, giving customers even more reason to reach for their Visa cards.
Yet in Visa’s Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEMEA) region, Visa cards are still only used for two per cent of supermarket spending.
The following examples from around the world show what CEMEA supermarkets are missing:
- Visa cardholders in a German supermarket chain spend more than twice as much as people who pay cash
-
A Malaysian hypermarket saw an 83% increase in sales volume when it accepted Visa
- When a major chain in Taiwan started accepting Visa cards, sales went up by 23% and the net profit margin increased by 19%
