Visa reveals Avengers: Saving the Day Competition Winner

  • One lucky pupil from Al Dhafra School wins a private screening to the Marvel movie phenomenon, The Avengers, with Visa’s MyMoneySkills Facebook competition

Dubai, 20 May 2012: Visa, one of the world’s leading payment solution providers, is proud to announce Jamal Tahir from Al Dhafra School the lucky winner of the Avengers: Saving the Day MyMoneySkills Facebook competition.

Visa partnered with Marvel Comics to take readers in the UAE and around the world on an exhilarating journey to financial success in the new comic book Avengers: Saving the Day.

To showcase the new comic, Visa launched an interactive Facebook competition to give teenagers across the UAE the opportunity to explore the fun side of financial literacy by creating their own comic using inspiration from Avengers: Saving the Day. The budding artists uploaded their entries on Visa’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/MyMoneySkills), and family and friends joined in to vote for their favourite entries.

At the end of the two week competition, Jamal Tahir, a 7th grade student from Al Dhafra School in Al Ain, was announced the winner with 105 votes. Jamal is the new superhero of the school as he won a private screening for 200 of his friends and family to the new Marvel movie, The Avengers.

On announcing the winner, Lama Kabbani, Corporate Communications Manager for Visa Middle East said: “It is great to see teenagers learning and taking control of their own money management, with a little help from the world’s greatest superheroes. Visa and Marvel’s Avengers: Saving the Day financial literacy comic book is a great way to introduce basic budgeting, saving and financial knowledge to young students without taking away the fun. Jamal Tahir’s comic book entry truly captured all of these top money management skills, making him a very deserving winner – all the entries were fantastic and it is great to see so many teenagers getting involved”.

Combining Marvel’s iconic super-hero characters and Visa’s experience in financial education, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk and other members of the Avengers team take young readers on an action-packed mission tackling daily money matters. To take a read and delve into the world of superheroes and money management, the comic book is available now online in English and Arabic at: www.mymoneyskills.me
